Pavement Licences and Highways Permits

If you wish to place tables and chairs on the pavement you will need to apply for a Pavement Licence or Highways Permit, unless the land is private then you will need to gain the permission of the landowner/landlord.  If the land is Dover District Council owned ie parks, promenades, etc then you will need to contact our Property Services department for permission (property.services@dover.gov.uk) do not apply for a pavement licence or street furniture permit.

If you are unsure which type of permit/licence to apply for please conact the licensing team.

To place an A board outside your property please apply to Kent County Council.

Pavement Licence

You should apply for a pavement licence if the furniture is removable i.e can be removed at the end of each days trading and stored inside.

Highways Permit

You should only apply for a Highways Permit if the furniture cannot be removed (is bolted to the ground or set in concrete).
