Community Roots Van
The Dover District Council Community Roots Van, is a fully equipped office on wheels, helping bring council services to communities across the Dover District. The van is there to assist with tackling social isolation and supporting communities in becoming more digitally inclusive. We'll be providing advice, support (and some fun) at a town or village near you!
Community Root Themes
During this year, 2024, the Community Roots Van will be back on the road, delivering seasonal themes throughout the year. As well as supporting communities across the district with general support and advice, the van will also be centre stage at some of our larger events.
We'll be getting things rolling with the below list of seasonal themes, alongside some relevant partner agencies, who will be on hand to support.
Spring (March 24 – June 24)
Physical Health & Activity – As the days get warmer and brighter, this theme will encourage residents to better their mental and physical health, by getting out, and getting active in their community.
Summer (June 24 – Aug 24)
Water & Sun Safety – By celebrating the fantastic coastline and open spaces across the district, we’ll be educating residents on the importance of water and sun safety. Not only encouraging our communities to look after themselves, but the environmentally rich environments, we all take for granted.
Autumn (Sep 24 – Nov 24)
Food & Fuel Poverty – As we prepare for the colder months, this theme will provide proactive advice and guidance for residents facing hardship.
Winter (Dec 24 – Feb 25)
Staying well this Winter – During the colder months, we’ll be carrying on the great preparatory work in the last quarter, by providing more reactive emergency support to residents in most need.
