Request
- How many teams or units were asked to bid for the major contract for the total archaeology needed on this site several years ago and how many responded and what were their stated estimated costs?
- Was the Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit, which carried out the many major excavations across the Dover town centre over decades, probably over 75% of those undertaken, and based close by at the Roman Painted House, invited to tender and if not why?
- Was the Canterbury Archaeological Trust selected to carry out this major programme and if so why?
- What were the costs of the various archaeological works on the site including desk-top study, specification of works, specification for post-excavation work and publication, research, analysis, expert input, interim report and final report?
Response
The Council does not hold the information you have requested. Our records show that the archaeology contractor was appointed by Bond City Limited and not the District Council.
