Request
- For the above proposed name change a fee of at least £850 has been quoted. Please give a detailed breakdown to justify such a high fee?
- Who has to be consulted for this to be processed?
- Please provide copies of all correspondence, letters, emails etc. between DDC and third parties on this matter over the last 3 months? In particular communications between Councillor M Nee the district Ward Member and the site developer or their agents.
- There are no residents in the road so none to comment so are other residents consulted if so, why?
- Who takes the final decision on the naming of a road? If it is a committee, please state which? Maybe it is the Cabinet? Please confirm.
Response
1. The £886 fee for renaming a street is for:
- The liaising with the applicant ie developer, landowner and/or residents of the street.
- The consultation with residents.
- The consultation with external agencies on the renaming of the street.
- The re-addressing of the properties.
- The confirmation and notification of the new street name and addresses to internal departments and external agencies.
- The updating of the Local Land and Property Gazetteer.
2. For the renaming of a street we consult with:
- The residents of the street.
- The Portfolio Holder for Transport, Licensing and Environmental Services.
- Royal Mail.
- Kent Fire and Rescue.
- Kent Police.
- The local town/parish council.
- The local ward councillors.
3. The Address Management Team have not received any correspondence from a developer, landowner or a street resident requesting to rename a street in the Maxton Ward and therefore do not hold this information. The only correspondence is a letter sent to you in response to a voicemail you left for the Address Management Team. As you already hold this information, it is not being provided again.
4. Only the street residents would be consulted with.
5. The final decision is with the Portfolio Holder for Transport, Licensing and Environmental Services and the delegated decision is published on the Dover District Council website. Further information regarding how the Council makes decisions can be found in the Council's Constitution which is available on our website at https://www.dover.gov.uk/Corporate-Information/Constitution.aspx.
