Pests come in all shapes and sizes, and details on the majority of the common pests (fleas, bedbugs, wasps, bees, cockroaches, flies, foxes, pigeons and seagulls) are available on this site and will help you in identifying unwelcome visitors and what can or can’t be done to control them.

Remember some animals such as seagulls, bats and badgers are protected so always seek professional advice if in doubt.

The council has arranged for AGS One to offer our residents a pest control service at the specially negotiated rates below. The service is for treating nuisance pests and those of public health significance at residential premises. Please note, separate fees for industrial or commercial premises apply. These services are provided directly by AGS One and payment will be required in advance of treatment by debit/credit card over the phone.

• Rats – a treatment is usually three visits –  £79.20 per treatment (£63.36 if in receipt of qualifying related benefits).
• Mice – a treatment is usually three visits – £79.20 per treatment (£63.36 if in receipt of qualifying related benefits).
• Fleas and cockroaches – a treatment is usually two visits (up to six rooms) – £132 per treatment (£105.60 if in receipt of qualifying related benefits).
• Ants – a treatment is usually two visits – £88 per treatment (£70.40 if in receipt of qualifying related benefits).
• Bed Bugs – a treatment is usually three visits (up to six rooms) – £193.60 per treatment (£154.88 if in receipt of qualifying related benefits).
• Wasps & hornets – only available where the nest can be treated without specialist access equipment (up to 8m) – £79.20 for first nest then £26.40 per additional nest (£63.36 for first nest and £21.12 for additional nests if in receipt of qualifying related benefits).
• Out of hours rate – in addition to the rates above –  £74.80 per visit (£59.84 if in receipt of qualifying related benefits).
• For other pests (e.g. bird proofing and foxes) please contact AGS One for a dedicated quote.
• For industrial or commercial premises – £88 per hour, plus materials.

Additional Guidance

The council has no duty to provide pest control services; however under the Prevention of Damage by Pests Act 1949 both councils and individuals have duties relating to rodents (rats and mice) on land.

All customers and technicians must adhere to strict hygiene and social distancing requirements. In particular, customers and residents must keep a safe distance whilst technicians do their work. If this is not complied with the job will be aborted.
