Each individual piece is classed as an item. Each item must be less than 2 metres in length and able to be lifted safely by two people.
POPs Collections
Due to Environment Agency guidance, we can no longer dispose of upholstered domestic seating items in landfill as these may contain Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). From now on these items must be collected separately and incinerated.
Affected items include any upholstered seating or any item of soft furnished seating from any household or business that includes any part made of, or containing leather, synthetic leather, soft furnishing, fabric or foam.
This means that if you book in a bulky collection that contains both POPs and non-POPs items, they will normally be collected on the same date but they may be collected by separate vehicles at different times. Please only contact us if your items have not been collected the day after your booking date.
Please see further information and guidance.

If an item is ripped or damaged and contains materials like foam, leather, synthetic leather, or other fabrics, it must be taped, wrapped, or bagged. For example, if a sofa has a tear exposing the foam, the tear must be taped over, or if a cushion is ripped, it should be placed in a bag or sack.
We cannot collect items that are not properly secured. This measure is to protect those handling these items.
Book a Collection
We will notify you of your collection day which is determined by where you live - this is usually within one week.
The items for collection should be placed at or close to the normal point of refuse collection or, if this is not possible, be left at an easily accessible location.
If items are not left out
At this current time our contractors are unable to collect any items from within a property or back garden, items must be left out at the front of the property with open access to the items. If your items are not left out on the agreed date and time, no refund will be given.

Bulky Collection FAQs
Why do you only collect on certain days?
Collections are organised into areas, this keeps costs down and provide more collections per day. The vehicles have fewer carbon emissions and you will know when your collection will be at the time of arranging.
What if the date given is unsuitable?
Another date will be offered but the day will not change, this is to keep costs down. As long as the goods to be collected are easily accessible, placed in the front garden/driveway of the property visible from the kerbside.
What can we collect?
Broadly if moving house and it is normally taken with you, we will collect it. It must be less than 6 feet (1.8m) and capable of being lifted safely by 2 people.
Why not ‘Black Bags’?
Black sacks are not considered bulky and should be placed out on refuse day in the containers provided.
Why not Garden waste?
Green waste that is sent to landfill is unable to decompose properly because, squashed under all the other waste, it doesn’t have any access to air. So instead methane, a powerful greenhouse gas, is produced which contributes to global warming. When you send your green waste to be composted you are not only helping to produce a good quality soil improver you are doing your bit to reduce global warming too! Subscribe to our garden waste collection service.
Why Bulky Items?
We aim to provide a service for larger items that people cannot transport to the household recycling centre site themselves. Small but numerous items should be placed out on refuse day. The bulk of our collections are electrical items, and these come under the WEEE directive.
What is the WEEE directive?
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) aims to minimise the effect of electrical and electronic goods on the environment, by increasing re-use and recycling and reducing the amount of WEEE going to landfill. It seeks to achieve this by making producers responsible for financing the collection, treatment, and recovery of waste electrical equipment, and by obliging distributors to allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge. Further information one the WEEE directive.
